Volunteer Service
What if high school students had opportunities to serve in the community and in the process, were able to learn about their own interests and strengths?
The Circle Volunteer Service Program is designed to assist Circle students in obtaining a variety of volunteer experiences, while de?ning and building upon their interests and strengths. The program's mission is "touching hearts".
During the past year volunteers have touched hearts and changed lives all over Central Florida. Students assisted in big events like the Mascot Games held yearly at the Amway Arena and various "walks" for non-pro?t organizations at Lake Eola and Disney's Wide World of Sports. Our volunteers are busy monthly helping to pack food at The Second Harvest Food Bank and assisting in activities at various nursing homes. Currently, there are over ?fteen service and volunteer opportunities in which students may participate.
Volunteer opportunities may be on an individual basis, or done as a group, according to the needs of the requesting organization. Recently, Circle formed a partnership with three new organizations; United Cerebral Palsy, Florida Hospital, and the American Lung Association.
Internship opportunities are developing to offer students an engaging look at a possible career path. Students should remember, it is not just about the "75 hours" needed for graduation - it's about serving in the community and "touching hearts".
