Middle School and High School Classes
Circle offers middle and high school classes for students in grades 7-12. Based on a university model, these classes will be offered as a full year program, and there will be no second semester registration. Because classes can be selected according to the best fit in scheduling, location, and scope for families and students, Transitions Middle School and High School Classes offer choice options.
Middle School Classes
These classes offer opportunities to learn and grow in an exceptional and flexible environment specifically designed for middle school students. Because middle school is a time of transitioning from elementary school to preparing for high school, we offer core content areas of: Bible, Language Arts, Science, History, and Life & Study Skills with additional experiences in Mathematics, Foreign Language (for 8th graders only), and the Arts to prepare middle school students for their future stations in life. The classes will focus on teaching essential skills in each content area providing a rigorous, and yet guiding academic environment. [Please note that pre-requisites and math placement tests may apply.]While middle school students are unique learners who are approaching the high school years, we recognize that parents of middle school-aged children are also transitioning their parenting and teaching styles to guide their maturing boys and girls. Looking forward to journeying with parents and students alike, we are excited to offer these classes.
"Standard" and "Honors" High School Classes
Offering Standard and Honors High School course adaptations for most of our core curricula, parents and students are able to opt for the best choices in level of academic challenge. New this year, courses in World History, American History, English I & II, Biology I, Chemistry I, Algebra I & II, and Geometry will be offered in both Standard high school and Honors high school course levels. Additionally, high school students can take courses in: Biblical Worldview, AP English Literature and Composition, Business Math, Physical Science, Anatomy & Physiology Honors, American Government / Economics Honors, Spanish I & II, and Latin I & II. [Please note that pre-requisites and math placement tests may apply.]
Structure
Students will register for individual classes. The classes are based on an eight-month schedule and a ten-month financial commitment. If a textbook is required for a class, CCS will provide ordering information after registration closes. Each subject will be addressed in a 90-minute teaching period. Most classes meet once per week for 30 weeks, however the math classes meet twice per week. Classes for the first semester will begin August 9, 2010.
Beginning in the 2010-11 school year Circle will be revising the dress code for all students enrolled in classes and programs. The new policy will require students to wear either a short or long sleeve polo shirt. Students will no longer be permitted to wear T-shirts on any of the campus locations. A final copy of the new dress code will be posted later in the spring.
