Recordkeeping FAQs

How many days are required in a school year?

The conventional model of public education requires that schools must be open 180 days per year. Parents are expected to schedule at least 180 days per school year and make every effort to fulfill them.

However, recognizing that sickness and other unexpected interruptions can occur, the Board has instituted a minimum standard. Each student shall be required to attend a minimum of 170 days per school year (85 days per semester). Students who fail to accumulate the minimum required days shall have their files and transcripts marked as incomplete due to inadequate attendance. It is the requirement of each parent to insure that their child(ren) will accumulate the minimum number of days.

When can I begin school?

Because CCS requires 180 days of attendance, parents must decide what plan will best suit their family. CCS does not have a specific school start date but does require all days be completed no later than June 15.

Twelve months of report forms will be provided for each student. Most families will stay on a conventional public school schedule, others will develop a plan in order to school year round.

What is the fine for turning in the monthly reports late?

The fee for late reports is $20.00.
