Arts Program
Circle's goal is to provide the opportunity for students to participate in an arts education program in an environment where students can explore their God-given talents. Whether it is a first time culinary student, a gifted visual artist, a kindergartner who loves to sing, or a seasoned drama student, the goal is not just to expose students to the arts but to create an appreciation for the Arts that carries them through adulthood.
Circle is dedicated to arts education and offers a full theatre program. Students entering the theatre program in grades K-8 will have classes rotated in a three-year plan which will provide an opportunity for the younger students to be exposed to a variety of classes. This will also lay the foundation for students to explore theatre and to perform at the end of each semester.
Theatre electives are offered for middle and high school students. These classes are designed for those students who are interested in digging deeper and exploring other facets of theatre.
The core classes are co-requisites for participating in the production classes. Actors Lab I, Actors Lab II, and Actors Lab III are designed for middle school students. Drama I, Drama II, Drama III, and Drama IV prepare high school students to study drama at an advanced level in a four-year progression. All of the core classes equip the students to participate in the production classes.
Circle Studio Players was added during the 2007-2008 school year with much success and has become a permanent addition to the Arts program. This production class gives the first-time 6th -12th grade students the opportunity to explore theatre in a smaller group setting with the opportunity to perform in a production at the end of the first semester, and then join Circle Theatre Company during the second semester in the spring musical production.
Circle Theatre Company will begin its fifth year and will continue to give students and families the opportunity to participate and perform in a professional theatre setting. For the last three years, students have had the privilege to perform the spring musicals at The Orlando Repertory Theatre. Past musical productions include "Oklahoma!", "Hello, Dolly!", "Annie Get Your Gun", and "Once Upon A Mattress". During the 2007-2008 school year, Company students had the opportunity to perform Euripides' "Women of Troy" and William Shakespeare's "The Taming of the Shrew." This was the first year of adding a fall production and a non-musical. Company students were also given the opportunity to learn the technical side of theatre during the first semester. Students participating in Company classes will have the opportunity to perform in a large scale musical production in the spring, a classic fall show, and as tech crew in Circle Studio Players' Christmas production.
For some students, theatre will be a course of study in preparation for college level courses and career plans. For other students, theatre will be the venue in which the students participate for the "fun" of the production and performance. Regardless of the reason, it is Circle's goal to encourage the students to use their God-given gifts as a ministry in their churches or communities and to grow and mature in those talents while understanding their gifts are to be used for God's glory and honor.

Why Should I Enroll My Child in the Circle Arts Program?
Recent studies, cited by the College Entrance Examination Board, have shown that kids who participate in the arts score, on average, 59 points higher on the verbal, and 45 points higher on the math portion of the SAT exams. Students in the arts are encouraged to finish high school, and work together creatively once they join the workforce. Facts released by Americans for the Arts show that kids who participate in the arts for at least three hours a week for at least one year are:
- "Four times more likely to be recognized for academic achievement";
- "Four times more likely to participate in a math or science fair";
- "Four times more likely to write an award-winning essay or poem".
